K.I.nd of Human | Roberta Pisu & Arcis Saxophon Quartett

12. Sept. 2022

How do humans hold their own against the omnipresence of artificial intelligence? Does he break or does he oppose it with something that the AI itself, a cloud of data, is not able to create?
In "K.I.nd of Human", Roberta Pisu, her dancers and the Arcis Saxophone Quartet create a scenario that moves between the antipodes of "warm empathy" versus "cold technology". The level of innovative research exceeds the imagination of most people.

Through the use of artificial intelligence, humans are able to program a machine's independence, teach it perfection, and reproduce the same result over and over again without error. Machines are able to make their own decisions and may soon be able to develop their own thoughts. At what point is man no longer able to control what he has created? And where is the uniqueness that defines the essence and destiny of being human? What happens when naivety is lost, where is there still room for a gratuitous smile?

Roberta Pisu & Arcis Saxophone Quartett

Choreographer and dancer Roberta Pisu and the Arcis Saxophone Quartet have been working together since 2020. Their first joint project was the full-length production "HEIMAT", which premiered in September 2020 at the Philharmonie am Gasteig. The goal of the collective is to transfer the chamber music idea to contemporary dance: to create an intimate expressive design in a small cast in order to implement subtle and refined artistic ideas. An important aspect is the joint creative process.

The relationship between classical music and contemporary dance and the possibilities and interfaces that arise through them are to be explored further and further, thus bringing a common statement to the stage. For this reason, the musicians are involved in the entire process and not just at the end of the creation process as is usually the case. The musicians, with their unique saxophone sound, are part of the performance on stage, just like the dancers. Although Roberta Pisu and the Arcis Saxophone Quartet are the core of the collective, it is open to collaboration with any kind of music, choreographic approach and any form of art that wants to risk an intimate and stimulating creative process together.
