David Russo

Born in Cuneo (Italy), David Nicolas Russo began his dance training at the age of nine. In 1996 he was accepted at the John Cranko School (Stuttgart) and completed his training two years later with Pyotr A. Pestov. In 1997 he received a scholarship from the Birgit Keil Foundation.
 This was followed by engagements as a solo dancer at the Saarländisches Staatstheater in Saarbrücken (1998-2000) and at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz with Philip Taylor (2000-2010), among others.
 To this day he lives and works in Munich.

In addition to his permanent engagements at the btm and TTM, since 2004 he has regularly choreographed his own pieces for the Birgit Keil Foundation, Ballet Philippines and the Ulmer Ballett Ensemble, among others.
 In December 2005 he created the solo performance MARVIN in collaboration with the artist Jasmine Morand, with performances in Switzerland and the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark and at the San Francisco International Art Festival. In 2010, he completed postgraduate studies in ballet pedagogy and has since been a lecturer in classical and contemporary dance at the Ballet Academy of the University of Music and Theatre in Munich, for which he has since also choreographed regularly. In September 2010, he received 1st prize at the 2nd International Choreographers Competition (contact energy) in Erfurt with his latest piece EIN-FLUSS. Since 2013 he is part of the company satellit produktion as a choreographer.

His most recent productions were Playground in September 2013 in Vevey (Ch), the dance theater brothers in arms with the company satellit produktion in February 2014 and the dance installation Im_puls in May 2014 at St. Ursula Church in Munich. In February 2015 he created L_overdose, as well as the installation U_turn. His latest production Hiatus was performed in November 2015, together with the company satellit produktion in Munich.
