Katrin Schafitel

Katrin Schafitel has lived and worked as a dancer and performer in Munich for over 20 years.

She is particularly interested in interfaces and encounter spaces between performing arts, music and visual arts, free spaces inside and outside, museum, theatrical, as well as public space.

As a freelance dancer, Katrin Schafitel works with a wide variety of choreographers and directors, including Rosemary Butcher, Stefan Dreher, Caroline Finn, Achim Freyer,

Zenta Haerter, Amir Hosseinpour, Anna Konjetzky, Andreas Kriegenburg, Helmut Ott,

Claudia Senoner, Katja Wachter and Richard Wagner. With them she is invited to national and international festivals, e.g. Festival Rencontres Essonne Danse - Paris, Festival Interplay - Turin, Les Repérages - Lille, Amber Festival - Istanbul, Soliloquios y Diálogos Bailados - Mexico D.F., International Dance Festival - Athens and Lisbon, DANCE Festival and SpielART Festival - Munich, Temps d'images - Düsseldorf, Nottdance Festival - Nottingham.


In 2012, together with Katja Wachter, she wins the Critics Award at the Festival of Choreographic Miniatures (FKM) in Belgrade with the duet "Boléro-Bolero". Several times she receives working and further education scholarships from the city of Munich. In 2022 she takes part in the #TakeHeart residency at the Meta Theater in Moosach, financed by the Fonds Darstellende Künste e.V. in cooperation with flausen+.

With the object dance ZWINK (1 + 2) Katrin Schafitel invents her own art figure for the public space, supported by fantastic object costumes, which costume designer Robert Kis

designs especially for her. With this she will perform in 2021, partly in combination with the alphorn player Katrin Vogel, at festivals such as the "soundance festival berlin", the opening ceremony of the new building schwere reiter and as part of "And the beat goes on ..." in the "Fluffy Clouds" at the TANZWERKSTATT EUROPA 2022. In total, ZWINK 1 + 2 thus come to 50 performances.

MÄRML is the follow-up project of Katrin Schafitel: In August and September 2022, she will perform with another object costume by Robert Kis at a wide variety of locations in Munich's public space. MÄRML chills and performs between the outdoor performances in the Container Galerie at Dachauer Str. 114 and celebrates an encounter festival at the end of September with the KloHäuschen, as well as invited and random guests.

Both projects ZWINK 1+2 and MÄRML are supported by the NATIONAL PERFORMANCE NETWORK - STEPPING OUT, funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media as part of the initiative NEUSTART KULTUR. Auxiliary Dance Program.
