Matteo Carvone

Dancer, Chorepgrapher

Matteo Carvone (*1985, Trieste, Italy) is a choreographer and dancer based in Munich. Since 2018, he has been developing his own choreographic practice, creating works that move between contemporary dance, performance, visual arts, and opera.

His creations often explore the relationship between bodies, imagination, and collective experience, combining physical intensity with immersive visual environments. Recent works created in Munich include TROPICI, ICARUS, AURORA, EROS, FLORA, and [FAUN], presented at venues and institutions such as Kunsthalle München, Schwere Reiter, Gasteig HP8, and the Venice Biennale.

Before focusing on his own artistic work, Carvone performed internationally with artists and institutions including Ismael Ivo, the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, Jo Strømgren Kompani, and Alexander Ekman. Alongside his independent creations, he regularly collaborates as assistant director and movement coach for opera productions, working with theaters such as the Vienna State Opera, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, and Drottningholms Slottsteater in Stockholm, among others.

Based in Munich since 2012, his artistic practice is rooted in the city’s independent dance scene while continuing to develop collaborations and present his work across Europe.
